Runners Finish Their 1st Miracle Mile Run

Councilmember Tom LaBonge in partnership with A Runner’s Circle hosted the first annual Miracle Mile Run this past Sunday through the Miracle Mile District on Wilshire Boulevard. Runners began racing at 7:00AM at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Orange Drive and ended at “Urban Lights” on the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Campus at Wilshire Boulevard and Odgen Drive. This amazing race was open to all ages, and there is no fee. Participants were timed and received race bibs. All participants under 17 were also able to sign up for LACMA NextGen membership, which offers art activities and tours for youth during the museum’s “Family Sundays,” held weekly on Sunday from noon to 3PM.Known as the only 1 mile run in Los Angeles, the Councilmember created this run to showcase destinations along the Miracle Mile, while promoting outdoor exercise and health. The Miracle Mile features museums, restaurants, and safe neighborhoods, which make it one of greatest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. The Miracle Mile community joins Councilmember LaBonge in the creation of this run to benefit their neighborhood. Cadets from the Los Angeles Police Department Wilshire Division and the Los Angeles Police Department Olympic Division were in attendance. Councilmember LaBonge plans to hold this run again in the fall in hopes it will become a regular event in the area for many more years to come.
